 In the Woodpecker Class this week the children have been working extremely hard! In Maths, we have started a new unit all about fractions and the children have been great a finding half of objects and quantities, both practically and pictorially. In English, we have been looking at the features that are included in writing a recount. The children have been practicing writing in the first person, past tense and in chronological order. In Science, the children made their own musical instruments and had to describe the source of sound. Finally, in Jigsaw the children discussed how medicines help us when we are feeling unwell and how to use them safely. Well done Woodpeckers on your enthusiasm, resilience and determination this week!

This week the Daisy class have enjoyed re-visiting and re-telling some of their favourite stories over the past few weeks, including Elmer, The Rainbow Fish, and Mortimor! The children are learning fantastic life lessons through these stories, including that it's ok to be different, sharing is caring, and it's important to listen to your family. We are getting ready to celebrate Songkran with some fun water play, so this week we put out some ice blocks with treasures hidden inside. The children love to touch, scrape, tap and break off bits of ice to see what is inside for them to explore.

This week has been a little slower in pace than the last few weeks and despite it being too hot to get outside as much as we would like to, the Jellyfish have had lots of time to play, play, play! They have made dens, and castles, played hide and seek, and produced their own dragon dances. It is so nice to see their relationships and circle of friends grow. They recognise each other's strengths and talents and ask for help from one another, actively learning from their classmates and friends. Next week looks busy with the Early Years house Easter egg hunt on Wednesday, our outing to Bangkok Butterfly and Insectarium on Thursday, and the DBS Songkran activities on Friday.

             Well done, Butterflies for another wonderfully busy and productive week of learning:) This week we have continued our work on ‘teens’ numbers in Maths. The children have enjoyed using Numicon to help them understand the concept of place value.  We have expelled excess energy in the playroom this week due to high AQI and temperatures outside. The children love nothing more than chasing each other and climbing and sliding across the apparatus!  The children had a wonderful afternoon creating their own collages inspired by the work of Claude Monet. They were fascinated to learn about collage and looking at pictures of Monet’s artwork sparked many conversations in our classroom. The children listened to relaxing music as they created their own collages and it was wonderful to see their different interpretations of his art.   This week has zoomed by super quickly with lots of fantastic learning taking place. Following on from their wonderful performance of the story Farmer Duck in their assembly last week, the Caterpillars were very enthusiastic about innovating the story with their own characters and we had lots of fun using different adjectives to describe our characters. Once we had made up the beginning of our own stories the children were then happy to find that with their growing phonics knowledge they could start to write their stories in a sentence. In Maths we continued to explore number beyond 20 and challenged ourselves to see how high we could count. We also looked at how numbers 11 to 20 were made up of tens and ones and practiced our correct number formation to write lots of numbers. This week in pufferfish class we have enjoyed painting and creating, using lots of new resources and techniques, as well as using our imagination to role-play with our friends. We have started to create our very own story using our Talk 4 Write sessions, using actions and objects to bring the story to life. In phonics we are becoming very confident at recognising lots of sounds and are even having a go at blending them together to read new words. The children have developed lots of physical skills this week, completing obstacles in PE and swimming in the big pool during our swimming lessons. They have also loved playing in the playroom, climbing up the wall and sliding down the slide. Well done Pufferfish on another amazing week!

  This week in Otter class it has been an inspirational week of learning. Not only have we written our own stories about a character who was afraid of the light, we have also published them and written them up in best. the children are extremely proud of their accomplishments this week in English and the smiles on our photos show the story of our feelings of our success. In Maths, we started a brand new topic, focusing on statistics. we have learnt about tally charts and bar diagrams. We also realised that we have been using tallies in school to help us count our house points on a daily basis. We also learnt how to read a block diagram and what the words 'many more' mean when comparing data. In Jigsaw, we have continued our topic og healthy me, focusing on food. We recapped the 5 main food groups and spoke about how we can look after our bodies with our food choices, especially at lunch times. we also have been aim to make zero food waste each lunch time, thinking about our env...

This week in the Dragonfly class was full of excitement and creativity! We were thrilled to see some of our seeds sprouting, showcasing the growth we've already learned about and deepening our understanding of nature. In maths, we mastered the tricky teen numbers, a milestone that showcases our growing numeracy skills. Inspired by the story of 'Farmer Duck,' we embarked on our own storytelling adventure, creating unique tales and recording them to share with our families, fostering a love for storytelling and imagination. Adding a play makeup kit to our hair salon sparked joy and laughter as the children delighted in giving playful "makeovers" to each other and even to the teachers, igniting imaginative play and collaboration. It's been a fantastic week of growth, learning, and fun in the Dragonfly class!

  This week, the Tulip class focused on Rainbow Fish - a story about a fish that learns to share. At first, it is difficult for the Rainbow Fish to share but he then learns the happiness sharing can bring us. In Mini Dragons, we use “Now & Next” to support the children in taking turns. The Tulips have shown a great understanding of this and are beginning to use this tool while they play. The Tulips had a lot of fun activities to go along with Rainbow Fish like making their very own rainbow fish. On Wednesday, we had a whole school lockdown drill. The Tulips did a great job listening to their teachers and staying quiet as we all sat together in the reading corner. We are very proud of them! - Miss Taryna, Miss Angel, and Mr. Gino

  We have had another exciting week in Seahorse class. We have had some extra special arrivals as our caterpillars have turned from cocoons to butterflies! We loved watching the life cycle unfold and seeing the butterflies come out has been our favorite part. We released them out into the garden and talked about why it is important for us to set them free. In our talk 4 write lessons, we have finished the innovation stage and changed our story to our own version ‘The Very Hungry Dinosaur!’. We are looking forward to a busy week next week with our trip to the butterfly garden and Songkran celebrations on Friday. 

  We've had a lovely week in Sea Turtles! We have kept a close eye on our growing caterpillars and the few cocoons that we have, and also went to see some butterflies outside in the garden too. In Talk4Write we have started innovating our story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'; the children have contributed some fantastic ideas to change our story! This week lots of children have shown great independent dressing skills during swimming; have showing great listening and attention skills during carpet time and have improved their music skills in singing assemblies and their music lesson. The children have also been playing with new friends and are using their words to spread positivity and kindness to those around them!

 Hedgehog Class This week in science we have been learning about the importance of safety in the sun. We learnt how to keep ourselves protected from the harms of the sun. Hedgehogs presented their learning through creating a poster or leaflet for the Year 1s!  In maths we have been explored temperature and how it can be measured. We learnt how to read thermometers accurately, paying close attention to the scale. We explored how 'colder' and 'hotter' can relate to the positioning of the scale.  For art and design we have created the designs for our model stained glass windows. Together we recapped our learning and incorporated it into one final design. We look forward to seeing our final outcome. A great week, well done Hedgehog Class! 

  Happy diversity week! This week the bumblebees have been busy discussing all the ways that we are different and unique. We have engaged in lots of activities to celebrate these differences. We made friendship banners, wrote about all the things we loved, created self-portraits, and read lots of storybooks celebrating diversity.  In writing, we innovated the story of Farmer Duck. We tried to make the stories as silly as possible and used lots of adjectives to describe the new characters. In maths, we have been exploring numbers 11 to 15! We have been using lots of different resources to make, partition, and subtise these numbers. We also had lots of fun moving the seeds we already planted into a pot with soil. We took so much care to carefully move them over and will continue to care for them by giving them water and lots of love!

Dear Parents and Guardians, We are still buzzing from the wonderful events of last week which culminated in over 300 people taking part in our first ever pancake run. This week has been a much quieter week on campus except for yesterday where we held our first ever dance competition with several schools participating. This week we held our scholars brunch for our first round of Academic Scholars where we outlined the benefits and responsibilities of being a scholar as well presented them with their scholars' reading list and scholarship certificates. Our expectation is that our scholars will help to boost the achievement of all students by taking a lead in learning activities and supporting their peers. Dear Parents and Guardians, As you will hopefully be aware, this week at DBS we celebrated our annual Diversity Week. This gives us the opportunity to celebrate how diverse we are as humans and ensure that we are as inclusive as possible. This started with the Diversity Badge competition, from which we picked 3 winners. Our teachers and students are proudly wearing these badges and if you or your child would like to wear one then all we ask is for a minimum 50B donation to charity. Over the course of the week, our Diversity Team delivered sessions on Neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, Customs and Ethnicity, Religions and Beliefs and Gender Equality. Each session carried a message that was both powerful and positive and, hopefully, one that the students will carry with them.   This week, the Pre-Prep leadership team has dedicated time to personally listen to the children read during their 1:1 reading sessions. We believe that by actively engaging with your children in this way, we gain valuable insights into their progress and can better tailor our support to meet their individual needs.  We take great pride in our commitment to nurturing a love for reading from the very beginning of your child's educational journey. Our dedicated class teachers and Learning Assistants  listen to the children read on a 1:1 basis each week, closely monitoring their reading progress.   It was with great delight that we today gave congratulations to our Academic Scholars at their brunch. The collection of students and parents that gathered to hear the talk from Mr Liddell and meet their academic mentors showed the range of talent throughout the DBS community and provided further evidence of a school that really is moving always to greater things.

What an unforgettable day!  Our campus transformed into a bustling running track as we welcomed around 350 participants and over 50 dedicated volunteers.  It truly was a whole school effort to organize and run this incredible charity event, which was part of our Heart of DBS community series.  From start to finish, the energy was electric, and the support from our sponsors added to the magic. We played a good game against Shrewsbury and unfortunately came out on the losing side, many of our goals conceded could have been avoided and with some more training to cut out the silly mistakes we will look to be better in the defensive area of the pitch.  We had some really good chances to score which should have been put away and the girls are still getting used to playing with offsides. Despite this, the girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves playing against some friends from Shrewsbury and wanted to continue playing even after the match ended. Views Gallery
