Headmaster's message 5th April 2024

Image
Dear Parents and Guardians, We have had a truly wonderful term and the achievements of our students have been remarkable. It makes me very proud as a headmaster to see the amazing progress our students have made. Our school feels very different this year and much of what we do now extends into the weekends as our students compete (and win!) in numerous enrichment activities. In this letter, I hope to give a snapshot of the many achievements of our students. Looking back through the calendar I counted over 120 events since January. It is hard to believe how much has been going on in our very busy school! We started the year with receiving our first set of offers for top universities including Medicine and Engineering at top Thai universities as well as UK top 10 and Russell Group universities. One of our students also gained a generous scholarship offer for the prestigious Shanghai Jiatong University.  We celebrated the launch of our first set of new Academic Scholars and Pre-Schola

Deputy Headmaster's Message - Happy Songkran

Image
Dear Parents and Guardians, What a wonderful way to end Term 2 - the DBS community coming together to mark our respects for Songkran, the Joe Louis show, then the fantastic DBS talent show to finish the day. I especially enjoyed the 'rod nam dum hua', where Mr Liddell and I participated in every ceremony with all year groups, meaning that we were able to thank each and every student in the school. The Songkran holiday is a special one for me and my family and we will ne heading to an island for a week of rest and relaxation, after which we will return to stay with my wife's hometown to celebrate Songkran with the extended family. I hope that you have a lovely break with your family and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday 22nd April for the start of Term 3. Take care and be safe over the break, Simon Fowler Deputy Head

Holidays are more than just a break from routine; they serve as essential periods for rest, rejuvenation, and self-discovery for students. They provide students with the opportunity to reflect on their achievements and challenges, set new goals, and gain perspective on their academic journey. Whether it's through volunteering, pursuing creative endeavors, or simply taking time for introspection, holidays encourage students to cultivate a well-rounded personality beyond their academic pursuits. Furthermore, holidays strengthen familial bonds and social connections. They offer students the chance to reconnect with loved ones, strengthen friendships, and create lasting memories. These social interactions play a vital role in nurturing emotional well-being and building a support network that can prove invaluable during stressful periods, such as exam season. While holidays are a time for relaxation and enjoyment, it's essential for students to strike a balance between leisure an

Dear DBS Prep Parents and Guardians, Our final week of Term was a theatrical treat! Year 5 took us on a magical journey through Shakespeare's The Tempest as they retold the whole story through their own words and songs. It was absolutely stunning! Mr Eckersley crafted the performance beautifully, and the students delivered the tale with style, poise, and confidence. Last night, it was the turn of our Year 7 and 8 actors, who took to the stage alongside students from the Senior School in The Greek Olympiaganza. It was an entertaining collection of Greek myths and legends, delivered with superb comedy timing, which had the audience in stitches! Thank you to Mr Smith for his work in directing the play and to the huge crew who supported both productions. Well done to all of our performers across the two shows, and thank you for the entertainment and fun! Today, we enjoyed the DBS Songkran festival. The celebrations were extra special as we welcomed the world-renowned Joe Louis Tradit

As we come to the end of another bustling term in the Pre-Prep, I am filled with joy reflecting on the incredible experiences our children have had over the past six weeks. It's been a whirlwind of exploration, learning, and fun-filled activities, and I'm immensely proud of each and every one of our young learners. Our journey this term has taken us to fascinating places and engaged us in enriching experiences. From our captivating trip to the planetarium, where the wonders of the universe sparked curiosity and imagination, to the delightful visit to Pa Jeep Farm, where our children got hands-on with nature and learned about farm life. The butterfly park proved to be a magical adventure, as our students marvelled at the vibrant colours and watched them land on each other. Our Space themed Creative Curriculum Week was truly out of this world! It ignited the imaginations of our students, who delved into a variety of creative projects and activities inspired by the wonders of th

Year 9 Enterprise and Design Technology

Image
Year 9 Enterprise students have dedicated this term to developing a comprehensive business plan, pitch, and product. Their task was to acquire an existing unbranded product at a low cost and enhance its value to sell it at a higher price for profit. Collaborating with the DT department, they've created remarkable brands and products, including T-shirts, hoodies, bags, water bottles, keyrings, bracelets, books, and stickers. All students presented their ideas in a 'Dragons Den' style pitch to a panel of investors and their peers. I am immensely proud of their achievements this term. Some students have chosen to officially launch their businesses, commencing sales at the book fair on April 23rd. All profits generated will be donated to the Beaumont Foundation. We hope to see you there!

Congratulations 1st April 2024
