Deputy Headmaster's Message - Diversity Week
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As you will hopefully be aware, this week at DBS we celebrated our annual Diversity Week. This gives us the opportunity to celebrate how diverse we are as humans and ensure that we are as inclusive as possible. This started with the Diversity Badge competition, from which we picked 3 winners. Our teachers and students are proudly wearing these badges and if you or your child would like to wear one then all we ask is for a minimum 50B donation to charity.
Over the course of the week, our Diversity Team delivered sessions on Neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, Customs and Ethnicity, Religions and Beliefs and Gender Equality. Each session carried a message that was both powerful and positive and, hopefully, one that the students will carry with them. Each day also had a lunchtime activity for the students to participate in which were not only educational, but a lot of fun.
The aim of the was not just to celebrate diversity, but also to remind each and every one of us that this is not something that we do for just one week - we should be acknowledging, respecting and celebrating how diverse we all are 365 days a year.
We encourage you to have a conversation on diversity with your child and you can see what they picked up this week on what is such an important topic.
Have a restful weekend,
Simon Fowler
Deputy Head
