Head of Pre-Prep's Message
This week, the Pre-Prep leadership team has dedicated time to personally listen to the children read during their 1:1 reading sessions. We believe that by actively engaging with your children in this way, we gain valuable insights into their progress and can better tailor our support to meet their individual needs. We take great pride in our commitment to nurturing a love for reading from the very beginning of your child's educational journey. Our dedicated class teachers and Learning Assistants listen to the children read on a 1:1 basis each week, closely monitoring their reading progress. We firmly believe that this personalised approach allows us to provide targeted support and encouragement, ensuring that every child reaches their full potential.
We would like to remind parents of our expectations regarding reading at home. Each child is encouraged to take their school reading book home every evening and share it with family members. We believe that this shared reading experience not only strengthens family bonds but also fosters a deep love and appreciation of books. Furthermore, please utilise the reading record found in your child's book folder. This provides an excellent opportunity for both parents and teachers to communicate and collaborate in supporting your child's reading development. Whether it's commenting on reading, sharing observations, or celebrating reading milestones, your involvement is invaluable in this shared journey. It is truly a delight to witness the growth and progress of each child as they embark on this wonderful reading journey. We look forward to continuing to partner with you in supporting and encouraging your child every step of the way!
As we come to the end of Diversity Week here at DBS, we are filled with gratitude for the enriching experiences and meaningful discussions that have taken place throughout the week. It has been truly inspiring to witness the Pre-Prep children actively engaging in conversations about diversity, inclusion, and the beauty of our differences. Throughout the week, our youngest learners have participated in a variety of activities aimed at promoting understanding, empathy, and appreciation for diversity. From engaging in circle times to sharing stories, the children have explored the importance of embracing differences and celebrating individual uniqueness.
I hope you have a restful and relaxing weekend.
Best regards,
Sophie Berry
