We have also seen them connecting with this learning in their role play, where we have all enjoyed sharing cups of tea and delicious food.  We have been able to model lots of language related to food and healthy choices, both during play and meals times, as well as encouraging the children to try a wider range of foods for a balanced diet.  Have a lovely weekend! -Miss Cullen, Miss O, Miss Ploy and Miss Taryna.

The children have also drawn some amazing observational drawings and we cannot wait to paint them next week! We have also changed the villain in our story of Goldilocks and Three Bears. The children have loved working together to create a new character. Well done everyone!

It gave us a chance to show off our super swimming skills and show everyone what we have been learning. In our Talk for Write lessons, we have started the ‘innovation’ stage of our story which means we are changing the story of Dear zoo by adding different characters. We have also enjoyed exploring the wildlife outside at school and bringing natural resources into the classroom to help us learn. Well done Seahorses!

Another week of very busy bumblebees! This week we were very excited to join our first house event in year 1 and 2 sports day. We had lots of fun designing our own flags, to support and cheer on our houses. We had our swimming showcase on Friday where we impressed our families with our swimming skills. Thank you to the swimming coaches who have taught us so much! For phonics we have learned 5 new sounds: c, k, u, b, f. We have also been trying really hard to blend words such as mad, sad, dad, using fred talks to support. In maths we have been exploring patterns, both visual and auditory. For writing, we have finished our owl babies story map! We had lots of fun making shadow puppets to retell the story.

Another exciting week has been enjoyed in the Caterpillar Class. Thank you to all families who were able to make the Swimming Showcase this week, the children were so happy to see you watching them learn in our pool and we hoped you liked seeing how amazing they are in the water. We all loved making posters to support our houses during the Year 1 and 2 Sports Day and then going along to watch and cheer as they all tried their best. In Phonics the Caterpillars have been blending the sounds they have learnt so far into words and have been using the magnet boards for word time. For Maths this week we began by looking at capacity and laughed at Mrs. Drake trying to get into a basket that was too small, then moved on to explore our knowledge of patterns using musical instruments to follow a beat. As part of our Talk for Write learning we became experts at re-telling the story before beginning to think about how we could change part of the story. Shadow Puppets were another highlight o...

We have also started to think about pattern and have been looking for patterns in our environment. We have extended the size of our art area to meet the artistic needs of our children! We have been so busy, designing and making some fabulous creations again this week. In Thai we learned about Wai Kru and spent time giving flowers to our teachers in a gorgeous ceremony yesterday. Well done, everyone! I look forward to another great Butterflytastic week next week!

Nurturing Great Global Leaders Last week, our Year 12s identified and began to tame their inner critic. This is an essential skill for becoming a more effective leader. The Global Leaders course, led by our incredible University Counsellor, Ms. Holly Murray, provides a nurturing environment to develop this vital aspect of leadership. We revealed perfectionists, underminers, taskmasters, destroyers and many more. It was a real eye-opener for some and an incredible bonding experience for all to realise they are not alone in this experience. Understanding your inner critic enables you to recognize self-doubt and negative thought patterns that can hinder your decision-making and leadership style. By confronting these internal barriers, you can foster self-confidence and resilience, two qualities indispensable for guiding and motivating your team. Holly Murray's course offers practical tools and strategies to pinpoint and silence your inner critic. Through guided introspection and self-...

Headmaster's message Friday 22nd September

Dear Parents and Guardians, We have had another productive week here at DBS. Last weekend we hosted the Denla Group swimming gala, a fun day with a high standard of competition. It is one of the advantages of being part of a group that our students get to take part in these activities. On Tuesday, we held the Cool 4 school workshop led by Marcel Pusey. It was very fun to end the day seeing our Pre-Prep and Prep students dancing on the stage and even our parents dancing at the end. On Thursday, we held our first open day of the year. Some parents commented on the politeness of our students and it is pleasing to see them making such a positive impression. Today, Mr Dunphy and I are gong to to visit the Beaumont Ruam Pattana School who we supported last year through our charity event. We are looking forward to seeing the impact of our donations and looking at how we can further establish links and support the school. This week we held the first of our parent briefings on residentials...

Deputy Headmaster's Message

Image
Dear Parents and Guardians, As the weeks continue their unstoppable march through Term 1, we find ourselves gearing up for the much-anticipated November residentials. The excitement is palpable, not just among the students, but the staff as well. These trips represent more than just a break from the classroom; they offer our students invaluable life experiences that extend well beyond the academic sphere. I can fondly remember my residentials, with the most memorable being a ski trip to Austria in February of 1992. Although this was only a few months before my GCSE examinations, the school was assured in the belief that a well rounded education should include development of the students outside of the classroom. This was not my first residential, but it was my first time to mainland Europe, and also my first time overseas without my parents. Needless to say there was a lot of trepidation before the trip started, but that was all forgotten as soon as I waved goodbye to my parents ...

Dear DBS Prep Parents, Time is flying in the world of DBS, and we have reached the end of week five already! The new student leaders were announced in today's assembly. I speak on behalf of all the staff by saying that we are very proud of everyone who has put themselves forward to take on a new role or responsibility this year. Students have demonstrated the DBS values already in going through this process: courage to put themselves forward integrity in respecting and following the fair and proper process humility by being gracious in both success and defeat generosity in helping others when needed empathy in supporting their friends and peers with kindness Over the coming weeks and months, we look forward to supporting our new leadership teams to bring their ideas to the table and further improve what we do at DBS. A huge highlight of this week was the Cool4School workshop on Tuesday. We were delighted to welcome Marcel Pusey for his second visit to DBS, and once again, he...

Your support and partnership in ensuring a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for your child are greatly appreciated. We look forward to seeing you next week at the Nursery and Reception ‘Swim Showcase’ where you will be able to watch your child’s swimming lesson. Your child’s Class Teacher will send additional information for the session on Seesaw.  We understand that one common concern that arises during swimming lessons is wet hair.
