Head of Prep's Message

Dear DBS Prep Parents and Guardians,

It was wonderful to see many of you yesterday as the Prep School students and parents rocked out in the Araya Hall! Year 5&6 students took to the stage to perform the electrifying musical "We Will Rock You," delivering an energised homage to the legendary band Queen. The theatre buzzed excitedly as the cast belted out iconic anthems like "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Another One Bites the Dust" with superb style and passion. The audience was transported into a dystopian world where rock music was forbidden. We were taken on a journey with two rebels who embarked on a quest to bring back the spirit of rock 'n' roll. The students' dedication, commitment and talent shone through every scene. Thank you to Mr Gower, the music, events and AV team, and the Year 5&6 staff for working tirelessly to provide this superb opportunity for the students. And congratulations to our young performers for their stunning performance!

On Tuesday this week, Mr Diaz and I visited the DaVinci Alive exhibition at IconSiam with our youngest Prep Pre-Scholars from Years 3&4. It is a fantastic exhibition that I highly recommend to the whole of the DBS community. The exhibition covers many DaVinci's achievements, not just his paintings. We observed detailed studies of his inventions, scientific discoveries, and anatomical drawings, providing a holistic view of his contributions to art and science and highlighting the vital link between these two subjects, also captured in this famous DaVinci quote.
"Principles for the Development of a Complete Mind:
Study the science of art. Study the art of science. Develop your senses - especially learn how to see. Realise that everything connects to everything else." Leonardo DaVinci
We ended the exhibition with an immersive, multi-sensory experience that brings Leonardo da Vinci's masterpieces to life, accompanied by a powerful soundtrack.

Next week, I look forward to sharing details of your child's new class for the next academic year. Further information about what to expect in the next stages of your child's DBS journey will be shared at the Move Up Presentations on June 13th, 14th and 17th. Look out for the reminder letter and meeting links, which will be shared separately on Monday.

Very best wishes,

Mary Bridges
