Ladybird Week - 10th May

It's been an exciting and enriching week in the Ladybirds class, filled with learning, friendship, and creativity. Here's a glimpse into our busy week:

Exploring Subtraction: This week, our Ladybirds embarked on a mathematical journey as we introduced the concept of subtraction. Through engaging subtraction stories and hands-on activities using resources like tens frames, our little mathematicians delved into the world of take away. It's been incredible to witness their enthusiasm and understanding blossom as they grasp this foundational mathematical concept.

Jigsaw: Celebrating Friendship: In our Jigsaw sessions, we've been focusing on the theme of "What Makes a Good Friend?" Our Ladybirds engaged in heartfelt discussions about the qualities of a good friend and explored the joy of spreading kindness. From giving high-fives, smiles, and hugs to emphasising the importance of effective communication in resolving conflicts, our Ladybirds have been nurturing positive relationships and fostering a caring classroom community.

Literacy Adventures: In Literacy, we've been weaving our writing activities with the enchanting tale of "Giraffes Can't Dance" from our Talk4Write story. Drawing inspiration from Gerald the Giraffe's journey, our Ladybirds reflected on their own strengths and areas for growth. Through thoughtful writing tasks, they courageously expressed the things they excel at and their aspirations for improvement, embracing the power of yet and fostering a growth mindset.

Woodwork Wonderland: Looking ahead to next week, our Ladybirds are eagerly anticipating their time in the woodwork zone. They've been busy brainstorming and planning their projects, eagerly writing down the things they would like to create. From imaginative structures to inventive designs, our Ladybirds' creativity knows no bounds, and we can't wait to see their woodworking masterpieces come to life!
