Headmaster's message Friday 24th May

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This has been a busy week for out Sports Department as we celebrate out Sports Awards evenings and also run our swimming gala events. It was fantastic to celebrate our sporting achievements in sports this year. We have won 7 BISA tournaments this year compared to 2 GBAC tournaments last year and the level of competition in BISA is much higher. We also won 4 runner up trophies in FOBISIA competitions. In my speeches, I highlighted the 3 main reasons for taking part in school sports whilst also focusing on the positive benefits to mental health, particularly around processing loss and developing resilience. As the academic year draws to a close, we are already planning for next season and are putting in place some developments that should lead to further success. We are building from the bottom in sports and now have very strong U9 and U11 teams who will continue to develop as they move up through the school.

We have had 4 swimming galas with Sandringham winning Year 1 and 2, Balmoral winning Year 3 and 4, Windsor winning Year 5 and 6 and Buckingham winning Y7 and 8. I think this must be a DBS first, with all houses winning one gala!

Next week we start our end of year assessments. We try to do this in a lower stakes way in Prep whereas in Year 9 and 10, we aim to replicate the feeling of doing IGCSE examinations.

On Monday we have our staff vs parents football match. I look forward to seeing you there.

A reminder to parents that next Friday (31st May) is a training day for teachers and school is closed for students. School reopens on Tuesday 4th June.

Have a nice weekend!
