Headmaster's message Firday 17th May
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It was a pleasure last weekend for me to attend the BISA touch rugby tournament which we were hosting at DBS. Our young athletes dominated both the U9 and U11 divisions. We won the U9 tournament and came top of our league in U11 although the final could not proceed due to the heat. We will be playing the final against Shrewsbury the week after next at Shrewsbury. Good luck to our U11 team! We continue to rack up an impressive number of BISA tournament wins.
This week was Mental Health Awareness week with a range of activities throughout the week on developing positive mental health. This is a hugely important area of focus given the global increase in mental health issues which have particularly affected Gen Z and are likely to continue to affect Gen Alpha unless societies change course.
This week we had open classrooms in Prep where parents had the opportunity to see the learning that takes place. We hope that parents found this valuable and that it helped to develop an understanding of the style of learning that takes place in a British style independent school. In Pre-Prep, we had a visit from Dr Yui from Thonglor Dental Clinic with a workshop for parents and sessions for Prep and Nursery students on dentistry and teeth.
We have a busy week next week with swimming galas, our Sports Awards evenings and our last parent forum of the year.
Have a nice weekend!
Jonny Liddell
