Head of Prep's Message

Dear DBS Prep Parents,

It's been a week of contrast at DBS: concentration, celebration and competition! In the classroom, students have been focusing hard on their end-of-year assessments. The corridors have been quieter than usual as teachers have set the tone for students to demonstrate their progress. We hosted a vibrant and inspiring evening in the Araya Hall on Wednesday to celebrate a superb year of sporting success. Prep students who have represented DBS in both the BISA conference and Fobisia events were recognised and rewarded with great speeches, souvenir prizes and rather spectacular trophies. We also enjoyed magnificent competition in the pool as each section enjoyed their House Swim Gala. All three events were hotly contested, and the atmosphere was electric thanks to great parental support. Thank you to all involved, and well done to every student who took part.

Some of our Year 8 students took part in the first community visit to Rainbow House. Following their mini enterprise project, which raised over 30,000 Thb, they went to help facilitate a new sensory room facility at the nearby school. Not only was it an opportunity to learn more about the set-up of this wonderful local school and the children who learn there, but the students also got to learn new skills through painting and decorating! It's fair to say that it was a messy affair, but the sense of fulfilment was evident on the smiling faces of our students!

As we head into the weekend, DBS is preparing to host the Bangkok Skittles tournament. Skittles is the precursor to the World Scholar's Cup and we have some very excited students ready to take part and be the first ever DBS teams to participate at this level. Over the weekend, they will enjoy a mix of debating, team challenges, writing, and competing against students from other Bangkok schools. We wish everyone a fantastic time and the very best of luck!

Very best wishes,

Mary Bridges
