Head of Prep's Message
On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming back our Year 7 students, who returned from the highly prestigious VEX Robotics World Championships in Dallas, Texas. This was not just a competition, but a platform where our students' hard work and dedication were put to the test on a global scale. Their exemplary teamwork and innovative thinking were evident throughout the competition, and we hope they are rightly proud of their accomplishments. Congratulations to 'Blockade Brigade' for representing DBS with such distinction. Thanks to Mrs. Hall and Mr. Dunphy for their dedication in organising this unforgettable experience.
On Wednesday, we hosted prospective students and families for our Prep and Senior Open Day. This event was particularly special as it coincided with the opening week of our new Sixth Form Centre. The state-of-the-art facilities provide our senior students with an inspiring environment for independent study, collaboration, and preparation for their future studies. The feedback from our Prep students who had the opportunity to explore the space was overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to witnessing their continued growth and development in these wonderful surroundings.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the week, we were fortunate to enjoy a respite from the sweltering heat, thanks to some refreshing rain. Our students relished the opportunity to bask in the cooler air during break times, engaging in some fun outdoor play. Additionally, our U9s participated in their first Touch Rugby matches as part of the BISA sports league, displaying superb sportsmanship and determination. Although yesterday's U11 match was postponed, our young athletes seized the opportunity for extra practice in preparation for the tournament this weekend. Congratulations also to our jubilant U13 badminton team, whose triumphant return from their matches this week was great to see.
Next week, we will mark Mental Health Awareness Week with a series of engaging activities and thoughtful discussions. These initiatives aim to raise awareness of how we can support and protect our own and others' wellbeing, a vital aspect of our lives and education at DBS. When we feel good, we can thrive and that is what we hope for every member of our school community. Thank you for your support and partnership on this journey.
Best wishes for a great weekend,
Mary Bridges
