Head of Prep's Message

Dear DBS Prep Parents and Guardians,

We have been celebrating some great success this week, with superb results coming in for students in Sport and Maths. Our Under 9 Netballers secured another BISA victory at last weekend's tournament, and the Under 11s were runners-up, also in Netball. For our first year competing in this sport, these results are superb and demonstrate the adaptable and transferable skills that our sports girls and boys are developing.

In Maths, we are thrilled to celebrate a record number of DBS entrants into the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge, with 125 students participating. This challenging and competitive event is a true test of our students' mathematical abilities. We are delighted to announce that 3 students have qualified for the Junior Maths Olympiad, a prestigious achievement. Congratulations to Poh, Wish and Luke on this tremendous result. I would like to give a special mention to Poh who achieved full marks in the event, a truly remarkable performance!

In our section assemblies this morning, we announced details of our upcoming Prep School Poetry Slam. All students are invited to enter, and they can perform a poem of their choice individually, in pairs, or in a group. Poems must be learned by heart, performed with expression, and can use one prop only. All entrants will receive two house points, and we look forward to watching the heats on May 24th!

Communicating with words has brought great excitement to Year 3 this week as students received written replies from their American pen pals. Mr Diaz created a link with a school in Indianapolis, and our students have enjoyed sharing details of their lives in Thailand and discovering similarities and differences in the lives of their American peers. The magic of writing and receiving a written letter brought joy and wonder to the classroom, and their latest replies are on their way back to the USA!

I wish you all a fantastic weekend.

Very best wishes,

Mary Bridges
