Head of Pre-Prep's Message
We've had an exciting week here at DBS, with a special visit from teachers of the Denla DLTS program. The focus of their visit was to observe and understand our approach to teaching English in the Pre-Prep department. We're thrilled to share that they were thoroughly impressed with our methods and that we received excellent feedback.
Our showcase included a glimpse into our phonics sessions, integral to laying a strong foundation for language development in our youngest learners. Following this, we seamlessly transitioned into our Talk for Writing lessons, showcasing how we nurture creativity and literacy skills in tandem. These carefully curated programs, RWInc and Talk for Writing, were selected to provide the best possible education for our Pre-Prep children here at DBS.
I am immensely proud of our Pre-Prep teachers and the dedication they demonstrate in delivering these lessons. Through continuous professional development, including teacher INSET days and additional training sessions, we ensure that both our teachers and LAs stay abreast of the latest best practices. This commitment reflects in the exceptional learning experiences our children receive.
Excitement is brewing as we prepare for our very first Year 2 residential. Parents of Year 2 students should have received a letter and a Google form. This immersive experience, scheduled for Friday, 7th June, will take place within the safety of our school premises. The evening promises an array of engaging activities led by the Jump program, culminating in a 'sleepover' in Sports Hall 1.
To provide further insights and address any queries, we'll be hosting a Year 2 Residential Parent Meeting on Friday, 17th May at 8:30am in the Black Box. We're eager to share the exciting itinerary planned for the children and ensure a smooth transition for this milestone event. Beyond fostering confidence, this residential experience will instil valuable life skills and lay the groundwork for future adventures in the Prep department.
As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's educational journey.
Best regards,
Sophie Berry
