Head of Pre-Prep's Message

Another eventful week has passed here in the Pre-Prep, filled with learning and exploration. The creative endeavours of Book Week continued into this week with the delightful books, made by our Pre-Prep children now adorning the shelves in our Pre-Prep library. Witnessing the joy on their faces as they immerse themselves in these literary treasures during library sessions has been truly heartwarming. The children have felt very proud of their books and having the opportunity for their peers to read their work has been extremely rewarding. After a couple of weeks, we will replace the books back into the classrooms, where they can be enjoyed by families during Family Time.

This week, alongside Miss Taylor and Miss Kennett, our Maths coordinator, we began our Maths Learning Walks throughout our Pre-Prep classrooms. Learning Walks are a vital opportunity for us to deeply understand the teaching of mathematics, explore the curriculum, and engage directly with our young learners. By conversing with our students, we gain invaluable insights that enable us to provide targeted feedback to our dedicated teachers. Through these walks, we ensure that our mathematics education remains dynamic, engaging, and tailored to the evolving needs of our students.

Looking ahead to next week, we eagerly anticipate our Learning Walks in Mini Dragons with a  focus on Physical Development. Physical development is essential for Mini Dragons as it underpins their overall well-being and future motor skills. Engaging in activities such as crawling through tunnels, playing with soft balls to develop hand-eye coordination, and navigating simple obstacle courses helps enhance gross motor skills, balance, and spatial awareness. Additionally, incorporating fine motor activities like threading beads, tearing paper, or using finger paints encourages the development of dexterity, hand strength, and precision, laying a solid foundation for future academic and life skills.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child's educational journey. Have a wonderful weekend.

Best regards,

Sophie Berry
