Deputy Headmaster's Message - Lifelong learners

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Friday 31st May, the school will be closed, but our academic team will be having a full day of work in the form of an INSET (In-Service Education and Training) day. We have several INSET days throughout the academic year at DBS which are an essential part of our school's calendar and are designed to provide our teachers with opportunities to continuously improve their teaching practice and develop new skills.

INSET days are a common practice in British schools, and they allow teachers to step away from the classroom to engage in professional development activities. At DBS, these activities can take many forms, including training sessions, workshops, team-building activities, and guest speakers. By attending these events, our teachers gain new insights into best practices and the latest trends in education.

One of the main benefits of INSET days is that they allow teachers to stay up-to-date with the latest educational research and theories. This knowledge is essential as it enables our teachers to deliver the best possible education to your child. INSET days also give our teachers the opportunity to work together, share ideas, and collaborate on developing new teaching strategies or initiatives at the school. This collaboration ensures that we are providing a cohesive and effective learning experience for all our students.

At DBS, we take great pride in the dedication and hard work of our teaching staff. Our teachers are committed to continuous professional development and are always seeking new ways to improve their teaching practice. By investing in our teachers' development through INSET days, we aim to ensure that our students, your children, receive an education that is utilising the latest educational strategies that aim to maximise progress, performance and student wellbeing.

Have a safe and restful weekend,

Simon Fowler

Deputy Headmaster
