Head of Pre-Prep's Message

Welcome back after the Songkran break. I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing time with your family and friends. It's heartwarming to see our Pre-Prep children return, full of stories and energy, ready to embark on new adventures.

This term, we are thrilled to welcome 15 new bright faces from Mini Dragons up to Year 2 into our Pre-Prep family. Each new addition enriches our vibrant community, and we're excited to watch them flourish alongside their peers.

Our first week back has been buzzing with excitement as we celebrated Book Week, diving into storytelling adventures with our little ones, who were brimming with excitement, creativity and joy!  The children have enjoyed stories with enthusiasm, crafting individual and class books that will soon be on the shelves of our Pre-Prep library. They've been exploring the anatomy of books, from the allure of the front cover to the intrigue of blurbs, while distinguishing the unique features of fiction and non-fiction.

On Friday, we turned bedtime storytelling into an enchanting affair by inviting the children to school in their cosiest pyjamas. This playful twist aimed to underscore the importance of bedtime reading. Research shows that a nightly story session not only fosters a love for reading but also enhances vocabulary and cognitive skills. Imagine, by the time a child graduates from Pre-Prep, they'll have devoured over a thousand stories if they enjoy one each night with a family member!

I would like to say a very special thank you for your kind support during this week, with both ensuring the children came to school in their pyjamas and for supporting the Book Fair.

As we look forward to the weekend, we'd like to gently remind you that next Wednesday is Labour Day, and the school will be closed in observance of this holiday.

Wishing you all a weekend filled with laughter, love, and, of course, some magical bedtime stories.

Warm regards,

Sophie Berry
