Head of Prep's Message

Dear DBS Prep School Parents and Guardians,

It has been fantastic to see many parents engaging with events at school this week. From Tuesday's  Parent Forum, Wednesday's Year 5&6 parents reps meeting, and Thursday's workshop outlining the changes that occur when your children progress into Year 7 at DBS, there has been a lot of information sharing and insightful discussions held. Thank you to all parents who have attended and contributed to our growth and development.

Our students have been very busy both in and out of the classroom. Yesterday, our Year 4-6 Pre-Scholars participated in a writing workshop with writing guru and author Andrew Jennings. As the workshop was UK-based, it was an extended school day for our young writers, and they were beautifully engaged with the creative workshop after the school day. Soon, we will launch details of a story-writing competition for all Prep students, and I hope many children will get involved.

We have had some impressive efforts on tracks, courts, fields, and in pools lately, with a massive range of sports meets taking place over weekends and after school. Two notable events were the Fobisia Tennis (U11 and U13 this weekend) and the U13 Games. The Fobisia events provide an exciting sporting stage, with schools and competitors travelling from all over Southeast Asia to compete. Congratulations to all students and staff who have been involved. There have been some great results to be proud of, but the hard work and preparation going on for months in the lead-up should also be applauded; well done to all.

Today, we started our theatrical season with the Year 6 play, 'We Are One'. It was a vibrant and heartfelt story of how we are stronger together when we work as a community. Next week, it will be the turn of Year 3&4, and then Year 5, 7 and 8 students will follow. Your engagement and support for the students and staff at these events makes them truly special.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Very best wishes,

Mary Bridges
