Ladybird Week - 2nd February
Another very busy week for us in Ladybird Class. In Maths, the Ladybirds have been on an exciting journey through the concept of time. Using sand timers, the class embarked on a challenge to discover how many star jumps they could achieve within different time periods. This hands-on exploration not only brought the concept of time to life but also added a playful twist to our physical activities.
The children then had discussions about the various times of the day, the introduction of clocks opened up a new world of discovery, with a particular focus on 'o'clock.' Counting the hours and understanding the structure of the day has been a delightful part of our time-themed adventures. Furthermore, the Ladybirds began exploring the concept of days in a week, unraveling the mystery of where each day falls within the weekly calendar.
For Talk4Write the Ladybirds have been weaving their imaginations into the well-loved tale of 'Three Billy Goats Gruff.' Continuing their story map, the class anticipated the next chapter after the troll's tumble into the river. Excitement filled the air as each child expressed their predictions through words and illustrations.
We've also been exploring the vital theme of kindness through our Jigsaw lessons. Understanding the power of words, the children have been reflecting on the importance of saying kind things and refraining from unkind words.
In their exploration of the world, the Ladybirds have been captivated by the famous bridges around the world. Armed with creativity and a variety of building materials, including LEGO, wooden blocks, and recycled materials, the class set out to construct their own miniature bridges.
