Headmaster's message Friday 2nd February 2024
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have had another excellent week this week and it was nice to see some improvements to the air quality as the week came to an end.
It was very nice to end the week with a parent coffee morning and thank you to the parents who came along. It is always nice to have a chat in informal settings like this and to get a feel for what areas we can continue to improve in. This week we also held two Open Days which were for both prospective and existing parents. We hope that parents left these with a good understanding of how we structure our curriculum and also how we look after students' wellbeing.
We celebrated our first major wins in the BISA tournaments last weekend with our U9 girls winning the tournament and the boys finishing 2nd. This bodes very well for success in future years in these tournaments as we build strong teams from the bottom. The introduction of Volleyball as part of the BISA league has also gone well. In the last 2 weeks our U15 boys and girls have won against Harrow but lost against Bangkok Prep and our U13 boys have won against both Harrow and Kings. Well done to all our young athletes.
In music, our student band Pickle Town progressed from over 60 entries to get the finals in Malaysia, winning a gold award in the final competition. A great achievement! Our staff band which has grown in size since international day last year is also getting ready for another performance this year with a late rehearsal this afternoon. Hopefully we can play as well as Pickle Town although some of us are a little out of practice!
We shared information this week about our Y13 university offers which are an amazing milestone for the school and an inspiration to younger students as they move through the school.
Lastly, we have resolved the issues with instagram and the account is back up and running. We now have two accounts: denlabritishschool.dbs and dbs.denlabritishschool. Please follow both and share in the wonderful achievements of all of our students.
Have a nice weekend!
