Head of Prep's Message
Dear DBS Prep Parents and Guardians,
I have enjoyed meeting many parents over the last week at sports matches and during our Year 3&4 Parent Rep meeting. As a result of your feedback, we are organising some new workshops to help provide information about the next steps in your child's journey through Prep School and beyond. Many parents are interested in learning more about how DBS prepares students for GCSE and A Level courses and University pathways and applications. We will focus on these topics in our upcoming Prep and Senior School forum (Tuesday, March 5th) and warmly invite you to join us on Saturday, March 2nd, for a University Workshop and Fair. For parents of younger children, we invite you to learn more about 'The Journey to Year 7' and how we prepare students for the exciting challenges of Key Stage 3 and transitioning to a full specialist curriculum. We will share the date of this workshop next week and recommend it to all parents of students in Years 3-6.
In our assembly today, the Prep student council took to the stage to share details of the work they have been doing to make positive changes at DBS. The Year 3&4 students shared a very persuasive letter they sent me last term explaining why a Gaga ball pit would be an excellent investment for DBS. The students were delighted to announce that the board has approved the Gaga ball pit, and it will feature in our playground upgrades later this year! Year 5-8 students have also been successful in their bid to upgrade breaktime activities for students, and they will be setting up board game zones in both D3 and D5 for Prep students to enjoy over the coming months.
Next week, we look forward to sharing updates on your child's progress in the Parent Teacher Meetings for Years 3-6.
Have a fantastic weekend, and good luck to all students representing DBS in the BISA tournaments!
Very best wishes,
Mary Bridges
