Head of Prep's Message
Dear DBS Prep Parents and Guardians,
We have ended a wonderful week of celebration to mark the end of an exceptional first term of the academic year. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Prep 'Countdown to Christmas' Assembly on Tuesday morning. It was a new event that will undoubtedly become a special tradition in the Prep School calendar. From beautiful readings sharing the magic and story of Christmas to a range of magnificent music from our training orchestra, Prep Choir and Year 5 & 6 students, the event truly ignited the spirit and joy of the festive season. We wrapped up with some fun from the Year 7&8 students who sang a unique version of 'The 12 Days of DBS Christmas', which resulted in the packed auditorium singing about the joy of having "an ice cream on a Friday!". However, the fun didn't stop there, and the surprise staff pantomime was a huge hit with superb audience participation and a big dance number to finish! The most memorable moment from the morning was the surprise and joy on the faces of the students!
We have also enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch, festive music and dance performances at Centralworld, and some Christmas parties to mark the end of a busy and successful term. On Wednesday, we waved off a group of students and staff who made their way to Beaumont Ruam Pattana School in Chiayaphum. They went to deliver the Christmas shoeboxes that the DBS community have worked hard to create for the students at Beaumont School. While there, they led some learning activities and met and spent time with the children. Returning yesterday, our students and staff have had a memorable experience doing something special for others. Thank you to all who supported this initiative, led by Mr Dunphy, which has enabled the children of Beaumont to enjoy some wonderful Christmas gifts and experiences.
It was a joy to see everyone celebrating today at the DBS Christmas Candy Cane Festival, enjoying fun and music outdoors. I couldn't think of a better way to end a fantastic term where we have achieved so much together. Thank you for contributing to the community that makes DBS a truly extraordinary place. I look forward to more magic in 2024!
Best wishes for a happy and healthy Christmas break!
