Head of Prep's Message

Dear DBS Prep Parents and Guardians,

After an exciting week of residential adventures, the students returned with good focus and commitment for their end-of-term assessments. The smooth conduct of our end-of-term assessments is a collaborative achievement - thanks to the collective support of our teachers, learning assistants and your unwavering encouragement at home. We commend our students for their hard work and efforts during this essential evaluation of their learning and progress across Term 1.

On Monday, we enjoyed a wonderful Loy Krathong celebration. Everybody looked fantastic, and the school was decorated beautifully for this colourful occasion. This year, we discussed the importance of preserving our water supplies as we pay thanks. Some students created beautiful posters to portray the vibrancy of Loy Krathong whilst giving a clear message about how we can save water and promote sustainable practices in our daily lives. Thank you to the Thai department for their hard work and commitment to sharing this tradition with us all and for encouraging us to think about how we can protect our water supplies.

It was a joy seeing many Prep students, staff, and parents come together for yesterday's magical Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. It was an evening of fun and festive cheer with some incredible musical and dance performances before the tree lit up the courtyard to cheers and applause! The sight of the community gathering illuminated by the twinkling lights of the tree was amazing!

This morning's captivating Prep Assembly, led by Mr. Orton, was a testament to our school's commitment to embodying the core DBS value of Generosity. Mr. Orton guided us through an exploration of this value, illuminating its significance through insightful narratives of Generosity displayed in the fascinating realm of wildlife. This thoughtful discussion set the stage for the much-anticipated screening of a Year 5 project—a heartfelt film created collaboratively during Anti-Bullying Week. Witnessing the dedication and effort of the entire year group, both students and staff, was truly inspiring, and the impact of their creation moved us deeply.

As we approach the Christmas break, the school is buzzing with anticipation for the upcoming events. The Prep Countdown to Christmas Assembly promises to showcase our students' talents, embodying the spirit of celebration and togetherness. We hope that you will join us for the event. Additionally, our much-awaited DBS Candy Cane Christmas Festival is approaching. This festival promises an array of exciting activities and experiences for the entire family to end the term.

It's now time for the long weekend. I hope that you enjoy a fabulous four days and we look forward to seeing everyone return to school on Wednesday morning.

Very best wishes,
Mary Bridges
