U19 Netball 1st VII vs BISA
DBS made history by hosting their first-ever U19 Netball Tournament for BISA. It was a fantastic event with around 40 senior girls taking part from three schools.
The U19 girls had a challenging morning as their games were back to back with little rest in between. The first match was against Shrewsbury. From the start the girls put in fantastic effort, demonstrating grit and determination throughout.
They scored the first goal of the match, giving us a 1-0 lead in the first few minutes. However, an overturned ball from Shrewsbury meant they ended the quarter slightly ahead of us. This then meant the girls were chasing down Shrewsbury's score for the remainder of the match. Our defence showed excellent skill, applying pressure on shooters and getting the ball out of the circle.
The girls worked hard to move the ball down the court and managed good feeds into the circle. It was a close game throughout and the match finished with Shrewsbury winning 10-6. Since we last played Shrewsbury, the girls have made lots of progress and it showed in this game. They then had the tough position of going straight into playing Bangkok Prep, who just had 40 minutes on the sideline to recover from their first game.
Tiredness certainly kicked in from the start of the game, as the girls had put their all into their first full match. Although Bangkok Prep leapt ahead with goals, this did not dampen the girls' spirits. They remained positive and continued to apply pressure on Bangkok Prep to make it hard for them to move the ball down the court.
Overall, it was a fantastic morning of Netball. The girls have shown great progression as a squad, and their attitude and determination were positive throughout. Well done to everyone involved in a 'first-ever' DBS Netball tournament.
