Headmaster's message 3rd November 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week I write to you from Kuala Lumpur where I am attending the FOBISIA Heads Business Meeting and the FOBISIA Leadership Conference. It is useful to find out about the many amazing opportunities that being a member of this federation provides for our students in competitions and also for our staff with excellent opportunities for professional development. One common theme from conversations with other heads at the conference was how challenging recruitment is becoming due to significant teacher shortages, particularly in Maths, Science and Computing. This is an area where we have been proactive and we have got to the job market early recruiting high quality candidates for Maths and Computing. I will also fly to London in two weeks for the first of our main recruitment rounds.
This week it was wonderful to see so many of our parents come on the the campus for our Halloween celebrations. Some of the costumes were fantastic. As Obi-wan Kenobi, I was delighted to bump into my old friend Darth Vader to settle some old scores;)
Saurday is a huge day for sports with the first round of BISA tournaments. The move from GBAC to BISA has provided with a much higher standard of competition and we have moved from being a big fish in a small pond to a small fish in a big pond. The BISA league has an interesting structure. All fixtures during the term are considered 'friendlies' and the competitions are in the tournaments, the first of which is tomorrow. I would like to wish the best of luck to all of our young sportsmen and sportswomen. Do us proud!
Have a nice weekend,
Jonny Liddell
