Head of Prep's Message
Dear DBS Prep Parents,
What an extraordinary week of experiences outside the classroom! Our residential trips have unfolded, and we're thrilled to welcome back our energetic bunch of students, brimming with memories and tales of their incredible adventures!
Our Year 3 & 4 students immersed themselves in the magic of ICamp, enjoying pancake breakfasts, engaging in creative activities, team games, campfire delights, and capping it off with a memorable movie night. Witnessing their teamwork flourish and strengthening bonds has been heartwarming for our teachers. Meanwhile, our Year 5 students embarked on an exhilarating adventure to Kanchanaburi. From a thrilling night camping under the stars to a nature hike and paddle boarding on the river, their journey culminated with a touch of luxury at the River Kwai Resort, where they savoured a scrumptious pizza night! Year 6 set off for Khao Yai, enjoying a breathtaking waterfall hike and an adventurous night safari. The students loved being surrounded by abundant nature and wildlife and were excited to spot porcupines, jackals and a wild elephant!
Our Upper Prep students headed for Chonburi. At Pattaya's open waters, both groups honed their sailing skills at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club. The splendid weather set the scene for fun times on the beach, where the students focused on an eco project and crafted marvellous sand sculptures. Year 8 experienced an extended expedition this year, embracing a night camping and learning bushfire and craft skills, along with a thrilling morning of Dragon Boat racing. This fresh addition to our residential program blends physical activity, teamwork, cultural immersion, and a profound sense of unity within the DBS community.
We're incredibly proud of the experiences our students have embraced and the skills they've honed during this adventure-filled week. We extend our gratitude for your support in making these experiences possible for our young explorers. Thanks also to the teachers and trip leaders who worked tirelessly to make it happen. Here's to a restful weekend reflecting on the happy memories made!
I look forward to seeing you on Monday morning as we reflect, make wishes and express gratitude as part of Loy Krathong. This year, we focus on ways to preserve and protect our water sources, and I hope you will join us in embracing ways that we can save water in our daily lives.
Warm regards,
Mary Bridges
