Head of Prep's Message

Dear DBS Prep Parents,

It was great to see many of you this week at our Welcome Events for all sections of the Prep School. I hope the sessions were insightful and an excellent opportunity to get to know your child's new class teacher or form tutor. This year, we included visits for parents to the classrooms and form rooms so that you could see where your children start their school day. For Year 3-6 parents, we were proud to share our newly designed Lower Prep School environment on Floors 5 and 6 of the D3 building. The purpose of the renovation was to create a more mature, calm, and focused learning environment to help inspire our students. We are delighted with how they have responded to the new designs, which feature neutral colours, more natural light, and cosy corners for reading. As the students move through the three sections of the Prep, we hope they feel a sense of growth and excitement to experience the new environment and opportunities available.

Despite being early in the academic year, we had lots to celebrate this week as our World Scholar's students competed in the Global Round of the competition! It was wonderful to see them on their return to school and hear about the challenges they had faced, including debating, writing, and teamwork with their peers from both DBS and other schools. The World Scholar's Cup aims to inspire students to become great global leaders of the future, and we are excited to see what is next for this cohort of students. Well done to them all, and thank you to Mr Roche for guiding them through their World Scholar's journey.

Looking ahead to next week, I hope you will join us for our reading workshops. Come and learn more about how we approach and inspire students in reading at DBS, and find out how you can support them from home. Mrs Steans, Head of the English Faculty, will lead the workshop for Year 7 and 8 parents. Miss Parker and Mrs Neville will present to Year 3-6 parents. Times and locations are as follows:

Wednesday 13th September at 8:30 am: Year 7 and 8 Parents in D2 BBX
Thursday 14th September at 8:30 am: Year 3-6 Parents in D2 BBX
