Head of Pre-Prep's Message

 Dear Pre-Prep Parents,

I hope this newsletter finds you well. It has been an eventful week here in the Pre-Prep, filled with learning and opportunities to strengthen our partnership with you, our wonderful parents. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you who attended the two Pre-Prep Parent Workshops this week.

Our first workshop focused on your child's reading journey, emphasising the importance of reading and how you can support this journey at home. Reading is a valuable skill that opens up doors to knowledge, imagination, and lifelong learning. When children read, they not only gain knowledge but also develop critical thinking, vocabulary, and communication skills. We encourage you to continue fostering a love for reading in your child's life as it's a gift that keeps on giving.

The second workshop was designed to provide insights into our use of Tapestry, explaining its purpose and how you can access it at home. We believe that strong relationships and communication between school and home are essential for your child's development. Tapestry allows you to stay connected with your child's learning journey, providing a window into their daily experiences in the Early Years.

We sincerely thank all the parents who joined us for these workshops, contributing to the building of excellent relationships and open communication between us. For those who were unable to attend, we have made resources available to ensure you don't miss out. The recording of the Tapestry workshop has been shared, and the slides from the reading workshop are available on Seesaw. If you have any further questions or need clarification on any of the workshop topics, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Your feedback and engagement are highly valued.

This week, our Pre-Prep leadership team had the privilege of conducting Learning Walks within the Pre-Prep classrooms. It was a heartwarming experience to see how well the children are settling into their classes. During these walks, we focused on observing several key aspects including our new Classroom Promises and The Zones of Regulation. We are delighted to report that these Learning Walks were a resounding success. It was inspiring to see how each child could articulate their classroom promises and explain how these promises help them be kind, attentive, and strive to be the best they can be.

Finally, we have seen a rise in the number of RSV cases in the Pre-Prep this week. Please can I ask for your support in monitoring your child’s symptoms and to seek medical advice where necessary. I have written to the Year groups who have been affected and we will continue to assess the situation in school.

Have a super weekend.

Best wishes,

Sophie Berry
